Medewi located in the north west of Bali about 2-3 hours from the Kuta area and 3-4 hours from the Bukit area. Because it’s so remote from all tourist destinations it’s still a bit of untouched Bali. There’s no hawkers, no hassling, no night clubs. It’s the perfect place for just relaxation and surfing.
The main point Medewi is known for its very long and gentle left-hander. It trundles down a smooth cobblestone and sand point for hundreds of metres. It might be just the longest wave in Bali when it lines up on a S-SW swell. It doesn’t handle SE or NW trade winds, so it’s a typical, west coast, dawn patrol spot. This spot is perfect for intermediate surfers and longboarders. It is best surfed at mid to high tide where the current doesn’t run as much and there is some more water over the boulders. Besides the point there’s endless black sand beach breaks and more rivermouths in both directions for all levels of surfers.
About 30 minutes south you will find Balian beach, another great surf spot with a rivermouth A-frame that’s a reliable swell magnet.
